ONGOING CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS

Recently there have been inquiries made to the Haines Police Department regarding the investigation of several criminal cases, including, but not limited to, the 1982 homicide investigation of Haines resident, Eileen Wafer. In order to preserve the integrity and the legality of such cases, the Haines police department cannot provide any details concerning this or any other ongoing, active, criminal investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this case or any other criminal activity, you are asked to please contact the Haines Police Department at 907-766-2121.

As part of his duties, incoming Chief of Police Heath Scott has begun the process of auditing and prioritizing all active criminal investigations. This process is designed to organize the department’s investigative case files, manage workloads, and insure department resources are being used effectively and efficiently. This process is expected to take several months to complete at which time the results of his analysis, as well as any actionable items discovered, will be made available.
